Launch of CD Illustrating work on RR712

'Castleshaw to Slack - A Roman Road in Detail'

From Huddersfield Archaeological Society

   20/6/12

Huddersfield Archaeological Society have released a CD of maps and photographs which illustrate their work on RR712 from Castleshaw to Slack. Now you can follow the Roman road from Castleshaw fort in Saddleworth to Slack fort at Outlane, Huddersfield, in great detail.
Sitting at your computer, or on foot, you can follow the route chosen by the Roman surveyors to cross the Pennines and negotiate the steep slopes of the Colne Valley.
Using aerial photographs, maps and photographs of features along the route, you can walk in the footsteps of the legionaries for much of the way.
