A large group of pottery kilns dated to the late 3rd and 4th centuries has been found at Norton on Derwent. For more details, follow the Pastscape links. The most recently discovered kiln, at Norton Community Primary School, was excavated and the results published in a monograph by MAP Archaeological Practice.

For more details of individual sites, click on the buttons below for the individual entries in The Pottery Kilns of Roman Britain by Vivien Swan (1984). Please note that the recently excavated kiln referred to above does not have an entry in that work.

If you are aware of any errors or omissions in this entry, or if you think you could help provide material, especially photos, to make the entry more complete, please contact our webmaster.
