Recent Discoveries

The aim of this section is to keep everyone informed of recent finds and discoveries some major, some less so, as and when they occur. This could range from the discovery of something as big as a fort site, to the proving of the course of a road (no doubt more coming from RR712 over the next few years)

By their nature, some of sites are going to be quite sensitive and on private land. Whilst most metal-detectorists act conscientiously these days, the problems from nighthawks and other rogues still persist so it will often be impossible to reveal anything other than vague locations.

We have divided these into two groups, firstly those which relate to Yorkshire and just beyond, so including Durham, N. Lincolnshire, northern Derbyshire (and yes, even Lancashire ???), and secondly important discoveries from the rest of the Roman Empire.
