An excavation of 1928 uncovered a floor of rammed chalk covered by a burnt layer crossed by wall footings. 4th century pottery and a coin were also recovered. The finds have been interpreted as a possible villa site, although little of particularly high status was found. There is some confusion as to the actual location of the site hence only a four figure GR has been given.
